Malpura:

Malpura sheep is distributed in Jaipur, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur and adjacent areas of Ajmer, Bhilwara and Bundi districts in Rajasthan. Animals have white fleece, stumpy ears, long tail and light brown face. The main utility of this breed is mutton and carpet wool. This breed has higher growth rate and adaptable to harsh climatic conditions. Wool is extremely coarse and used for making felts and coarse carpets. Ewes yield good quantity of milk (500 ml). The average body weight for adult male is 41.57 kg and for adult female is 24.28 kg.

Mandya:

Mandya sheep are distributed in Mandya and bordering Mysore districts of Karnataka. The breed is mainly reared for mutton purpose. Colour is white, but in some cases face is light brown, Ears are long, leafy and drooping. A large percentage of animals carry wattles.The average body weight for adult male is 36.8 kg and for adult female is 26.7 kg.

Mecheri:

This breed is distributed in Mecheri, Kolathoor, Nangavalli, Omalur and Tarmangalam Panchayat Union areas of Salem district and Bhavani taluk of Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. The animals are medium sized and light brown in colour. Body is covered with very short hairs which are not shorn. The skin is of the highest quality and is highly prized. The average body weight for adult male is 32 kg and for adult female it is 28 kg.

Sonadi:

Sonadi is found in Banswara, Dungarpur, Udaipur districts and to some extent in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan and also extends to northern Gujarat. Thi s breed has white fleece and long ears. The Sonadi breed is mainly reared for the mutton and carpet wool. The average body weight for adult male is 40.4 kg and for adult female it is 28.5 kg.
